Job Overview:
The Business Council of New York State, Inc., is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to provide administrative support to our Government Affairs Department. The Government Affairs Administrator will support the Government Affairs staff by coordinating meeting schedules; drafting correspondence; supporting and managing committee meetings; and bill organization in the Legislative Retrieval System (LRS).
Qualifications / Requirements:
· Associate’s degree, Bachelors preferred in Public Policy or a related field.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
· Experience in state legislative; public policy or membership association preferred.
· Excellent communication and writing skills.
· Highly organized self-starter with strong project management skills.
· Experience with email marketing platforms, Mailchimp preferred.
· Experience with association management platforms, Protech preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) at an intermediate or advanced level.
· Non-exempt, full-time position, (in office at least four days a week and one day per week remote).
Job Responsibilities:
· Manage the overall administrative operations and support of the Government Affairs team.
· Draft and mail or email correspondence to members via MailChimp.
· Answer and respond to phone calls from members, government offices, industry associations and advocacy groups.
· Update The Business Council committee pages, and all government affairs sections of the website with guidance from the GA staff.
· Support and run committee meetings and webinars for the government affairs department including set-up in Protech and on Zoom.
· Set up and manage website registration pages for committee meetings and webinars.
· Help registrants troubleshoot registration errors, log-in issues and password resets.
· Correspond with registrants of committee meetings and webinars, and follow up post meetings with recordings, slides and links.
· Monitor open rates, investigate bounce back emails & update member information as needed.
· Organize pertinent bill information in the Legislative Retrieval System (LRS).
· Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Ability to use a keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
· Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, event materials).
