About New York Housing Conference

New York Housing Conference is a nonprofit affordable housing policy and advocacy organization focused on policy and resources at the City, State and Federal levels. We support decent affordable housing for all New Yorkers by analyzing public policy, educating and convening stakeholders, and building effective advocacy coalitions.

About NYHC’s Work

NYHC is a prominent player in public discussions about New York City’s housing crisis. We advocate for resources and improved policy for affordable housing development and preservation. We produce policy analysis and lead coalitions, often sharing the perspective of the affordable housing community on major policies.

About the Policy & Advocacy Coordinator

NYHC is seeking a new member of our small but mighty team to support our policy and advocacy work on city, state and federal affordable housing issues and campaigns. Be the point person for our Rising Leaders Network which is a voluntary board that produces monthly networking, volunteer and educational events.

Responsibilities

  • Support policy and advocacy work through research, analysis and outreach
  • Conduct outreach to partners in coalition work and active partners for advocacy
  • Coordinating coalition campaigns
  • Managing the Rising Leaders Network
  • 2+ years of experience in policy, advocacy or government
  • Demonstrated communication abilities with strong writing skills
  • Experience conducting research and/or analysis
  • A strong relationship builder — comfortable developing and maintaining connections with partners
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, strategy and content
  • Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, or similar field
  • Familiarity with the New York political landscape
  • Experience in advocacy, nonprofit, government or campaign
  • Knowledge of and interest in affordable housing policy
  • Experience with mapping and data analysis programs like QGIS, R, and / or Python

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in policy, advocacy or government
  • Demonstrated communication abilities with strong writing skills
  • Experience conducting research and/or analysis

Preferred Qualifications
