The Neighborhood Preservation Coalition of New York State (NPCNYS) is seeking an experienced, energetic, and visionary leader to serve as its next Executive Director.
NPCNYS is a statewide membership association representing nearly 150 nonprofit organizations and stakeholders dedicated to affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, and community development throughout New York State. As a member-driven 501(c)(3) organization governed by a diverse Board of Directors, NPCNYS works to ensure that low- and moderate-income residents have access to quality housing and economic opportunities in communities across urban, suburban, and rural New York.

Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, advocacy, and organizational management to advance NPCNYS's mission and vision.
The Executive Director serves as the public face of the organization, leading legislative and policy advocacy efforts, strengthening member engagement, overseeing fundraising initiatives, managing daily operations, and building partnerships with policymakers, funders, and community stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder, advocate, and strategic thinker who understands New York State government and is passionate about strengthening communities through affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization.
They will be equally comfortable working with legislators, nonprofit leaders, funders, and community stakeholders while leading a small but impactful statewide organization. This individual will bring strong leadership skills, political acumen, operational expertise, and the ability to inspire others around a shared mission.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Organizational Management: Provide strategic leadership and direction to advance NPCNYS's mission and long-term goals.
Government Relations & Advocacy: Maintain and strengthen relationships within New York State's Executive and Legislative branches.
Fundraising & Communications: Expand and diversify funding sources to support organizational sustainability and growth.
Membership Development & Partnership Building: Build and sustain strong relationships with NPCNYS members, funders, community leaders, and strategic partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Urban Affairs, Social Services, or a related field preferred.
- Five or more years of senior leadership or management experience in a nonprofit organization, membership association, advocacy organization, government agency, or related field.
- Knowledge of affordable housing, community development, neighborhood revitalization, or related policy areas preferred.
