Assistant District Attorney, Deed Fraud Investigations and Prosecutions

With support from Governor Kathy Hochul, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez is strengthening the Office’s response to deed fraud and housing justice. Deed fraud can strip families of their homes, erase generations of stability and wealth, and destabilize entire communities.

The Office is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as an Assistant District Attorney focused on deed fraud and predatory housing schemes. The prosecutor will investigate deed theft, forged property transfers, fraudulent notarizations, related financial crimes, and criminal conduct by landlords. The prosecutor will also help identify emerging schemes, strengthen interagency coordination, assist victims, and support community education and prevention efforts.

Working with investigators, analysts, government partners, and community stakeholders, the ADA will help protect Brooklyn homeowners and tenants, particularly older adults, immigrants, and others frequently targeted by scams and harassment.

Applicants must be admitted to the New York State Bar and have at least three years of legal experience. Investigative, litigation, or complex civil or criminal experience is strongly preferred.

The position includes competitive compensation, comprehensive City benefits, membership in the New York City Employees’ Retirement System (NYCERS), and one remote workday per week for eligible experienced attorneys.
