Licensed Social Worker – Bilingual

Position Summary

We are seeking a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide clinical counseling services within an OASAS-certified Part 822 outpatient substance use disorder treatment program.

The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish and have experience providing mental health services to individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. A CASAC credential or experience working in an OASAS-certified substance use disorder treatment setting is strongly preferred.

The Licensed Social Worker will primarily provide individual counseling services to clients presenting with substance use disorders, mental health concerns, trauma, and other psychosocial challenges. The clinician will conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, provide ongoing counseling, monitor clients' mental health and recovery progress, and collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Services must be delivered in accordance with OASAS regulations, agency policies, professional ethical standards, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide individual mental health and substance use counseling to clients with co-occurring disorders.
• Conduct comprehensive intake interviews, psychosocial assessments, substance use evaluations, mental health screenings, and ongoing clinical assessments.
• Assess clients' mental health symptoms, substance use patterns, strengths, needs, risks, treatment history, psychosocial stressors, and readiness for change.
• Develop individualized, person-centered treatment plans in collaboration with clients and members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Provide evidence-based interventions addressing mental health symptoms, substance use, emotional regulation, coping skills, relapse prevention, recovery goals, and other identified treatment needs.
• Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups as needed.
• Provide family or significant-other counseling when clinically appropriate and authorized by the client.
• Utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches, including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), harm-reduction strategies, and relapse-prevention interventions.
• Provide clinical support to individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, emotional dysregulation, and other mental health concerns that may co-occur with substance use disorders.
• Monitor clients' treatment progress and update treatment plans based on clinical need and regulatory requirements.
• Assess for safety concerns, including suicidal ideation, psychiatric instability, substance-related risks, and other behavioral health crises, and complete appropriate safety planning and interventions.
• Coordinate referrals for psychiatric services, medication management, medication for addiction treatment (MAT), medical care, housing, vocational services, benefits, and other community-based resources.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, medical professionals, substance use counselors, social service providers, peer-support professionals, probation or other referral sources when appropriate and authorized, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Maintain accurate, timely, confidential, and clinically appropriate documentation, including progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, discharge summaries, and other required records.
• Participate in case conferences, clinical supervision, staff meetings, quality-assurance activities, and required training.
• Monitor client attendance and engagement and conduct appropriate outreach when clients are at risk of disengaging from treatment.
• Assist clients in developing recovery, wellness, coping, emotional-regulation, and relapse-prevention strategies.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and comply with confidentiality requirements, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
• Follow applicable OASAS Part 822 requirements, agency policies, professional ethics, and established clinical procedures.
• Perform additional duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position.

Required Education and Licensure

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid New York State LMSW or LCSW license.
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is required, including the ability to provide clinical counseling services to Spanish-speaking clients.

Preferred Credentials

• Current CASAC or CASAC-Advanced credential strongly preferred.
• Candidates with both a New York State social work license and CASAC credential are highly encouraged to apply.
• Experience working within an OASAS-certified Part 822 outpatient treatment program is strongly preferred.
