New York City is home to residents who have come from more than 100 nations and speak over 150 languages, with nearly 40% born outside of the United States. New York City is also comprised of the largest and most diverse Jewish community of any city in the world. There has never been a more critical moment for effective community relations. Against this backdrop, the JCRC-NY seeks a new Chief Executive Officer to represent the voice of New York’s diverse Jewish community and lead this storied organization into its next chapter.

In partnership with the Board of Directors and senior team, the CEO will build upon the JCRC-NY’s strategy and vision moving forward and will be responsible for cultivating new, and deepening existing, relationships with key donors and philanthropic partners on behalf of the agency. As the public face of an organization that represents the New York Jewish community, the next CEO must bring high emotional intelligence and cultural competency, with an ability to work across the diverse constituencies within the Jewish community, as well as government officials and other ethnic and faith-based groups across all five boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester.

To achieve these mandates, the CEO must be a dynamic, inspiring, and engaging relationship-builder with a track record of convening leaders and building bridges within a complex ecosystem. With the support of a talented team and Board deeply committed to the mission of the JCRC-NY, the next CEO will have a lasting impact for years to come.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

• Serve as a spokesperson and ambassador for the JCRC-NY, working to develop and nurture relationships with stakeholders across New York City, Long Island, and Westchester, including Jewish organizations and Jewish communal leaders, government officials, philanthropic funders and partners, religious and ethnic leaders, and more
• Build upon and implement the JCRC-NY’s vision, direction, and strategy in close partnership with the Board of Directors and senior staff; lead strategic planning processes, continuously work to implement and improve the JCRC-NY’s direction and strategy, and monitor its progress towards the achievement of key goals
• Serve as a credible, well-regarded community relations leader known for integrity, honesty, authenticity, and discretion; effectively engage, interact with, and convene on pressing issues, as applicable, across the broad diversity of the New York Jewish and non-Jewish community on grass-roots and emerging and senior leadership levels
• Develop and diversify funding streams from foundations, individuals, and more to ensure the financial sustainability of the organization, while simultaneously maintaining and safeguarding the JCRC-NY’s existing funder relationships
• Continue to cultivate and deepen the JCRC-NY’s partnership with the UJA-Federation of New York
• Lead a motivated, committed senior leadership team, as well as the recruitment, development, and mentoring of team members; foster an inclusive environment where staff feel empowered to work cross-collaboratively, think creatively, and engage deeply
• In partnership with the senior leadership team, oversee all departments and functions, including but not limited to: operations, finance, development, information technology, human resources, legal, and more; manage the JCRC-NY’s budget and resources to ensure that the organization delivers on its strategic goals and mandates
• Oversee organizational governance and partner effectively with the Board of Directors and lay leaders to leverage the robust skillsets and knowledge available to the JCRC-NY

Community Engagement Demonstrated ability to engage diverse audiences, including the Jewish community and other faith-based and ethnic groups; work across religious and political ideologies; and
convene key leaders on issues important to the Jewish community.

Strategy & Vision Visionary who can build upon the JCRC-NY’s strategy, galvanize buy-in, and drive toward execution; brings a deep understanding of community relations and the political
landscape of New York City, Long Island, and Westchester.

Fundraising Expertise Strong fundraising acumen with experience developing revenue streams from foundations, individuals, and other sources, and a commitment to maintaining a strong partnership
with the UJA-Federation of New York.

Mission Orientation Passionate about the JCRC-NY’s mission to build relationships to advance the values, interests, and security of the Jewish community and to create a more interconnected New
York for all.

Compensation for this role will be determined based on experience and skill set, with an anticipated salary range of $300,000 to $350,000, with an openness to consider alternative compensation approaches.
